If you would like to buy these in person, I bring to classes and presentations:
|
| Programmed to Run doesn't include the T'ai Chi philisophical aspects of ChiRunning but it will help you improve your mechanics to become a more efficient runner. The Competitive Runners Handbook is essentially the "bible" for racing, covering basic training techniques and providing regimens for 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and marathons. |
| I suggest The Diabetic Athlete for those with diabetes because fueling your activity is absolutely essential and yet is complicated by your need to avoid blood sugar spikes and falls, the improvements to your blood sugar control that take place when you exercise, and the medicine you're taking. This book covers it all and will help you and your doctor successfully and safely set up a walking or running fueling program. Run Gently, Run Long is a delightful read that fits well into the philosophy and approach of ChiRunning. In this 1971 classic, Henderson advocated running gently in order to be able to run long distances. Aspects of gentle running include such things as: long slow distances, easy rest/recovery days, and limited racing. Working it Out uses research findings to describe the theory and practice of using exercise to improve mental health. It should be read by any therapist interested in prescribing exercise for clients. |
